This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitude required to perform machine tools machining operations. This module is intended to trainees pursuing diploma in renewable energy. At the end of this module, the trainees will be able to describe machines for special machining operation, prepare machine tools for special machining operation and perform machining operations. The trainee will be able to perform machine tools operations on different machine tools such as lathe machine, milling machine and drilling machines.

This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to identify, select and

control electrical machines including single and three phase transformers, three phase

induction motor, single-phase motors, synchronous motor and AC generator (alternator).

It is designed for trainees pursuing Advanced Diploma in Renewable Enery.

By the end of this module, the trainee will be able to identify, select and control the

electrical machine either single/three phase transformer, three phase induction motor,

single phase induction motor, synchronous motor or synchronous generator.

This will give students basic practical skills in the use of various workshop machines such as lathe machine, milling machine, shaper machines, drilling machine, etc. and also carryout necessary repair and maintenance.

The SOLIDWORKS(CAD software) is a mechanical design automation application that lets designers quickly sketch out ideas, experiment with features and dimensions, and produce models and detailed drawings. At the end of this module students will be able to design design parts, assembly and analyze drawing. 

Also will be able to design and assemble hydraulics and pneumatic circuit with help of FLUIDSIM.

 It familiarizes students with the commonly used functions of SOLIDWORKS and FLUIDSIM.

This course  describe different technics used to repair and maintain induction motors especially rewinding process 

Objective of the course

At the end of this course a trainees should be able to:

  • To identify the motor in normal conditions and abnormal conditions
  • To know the causes of damage of a rotating machine
  • How to prevent the damage of the machine.
  • To change speed of a given system depending on the purpose.
  • Interpret the name plate details of the motor and record them.
  • Dismantle the motor and remove the rotor (R)
  • Collect the winding data (R)
  • Draw the development diagram of a 3-phase induction motor having a single layer distributed type unbalanced winding.
  • Draw the development diagram of a 3-phase induction motor having a single layer distributed type unbalanced winding.
  • Strip the winding from the stator (R)
  • Clean the stator and insulate the slots (R)
  • Prepare coils and place them in slots for single layer distributed type unbalanced winding.
  • Interconnect the coils/groups of the individual phases for the single layer distributed type unbalanced winding.
  • Test the motor after the rewinding. (R)
  • Preheat and varnish ,impregnate the winding.(R)
  • Test run the motor.( R)
