This module describes the skills, knowledge and right attitudes required to match the learning process with occupation, develop action plan to meet occupation standards and relate occupation with the labor market demand. This module is intended for trainees pursuing Advanced Diploma in all engineering trades. The trainees will be able to identify the occupation and its learning processes. They will also be able to integrate in the working environment, set out the goals to perform the occupation and self- assessment. This module encourages greater motivation and, subsequently, a better integration of various learning. The trainees will be able to independently develop a comprehensive and clear vision of the occupation and training programme at professional level.

Learning Approach

Each Learning Unit begins with an introduction outlining its coverage and objectives. At the end of each unit, students will engage in review questions and problem-solving exercises to reinforce learning.

Elements of Competence & Performance Criteria

1. Analyze Automated Electrical Power System

  • Clearly describe automated electrical power systems following operational standards.

  • Identify and explain protective devices based on their applications.

  • Interpret power system drawings, focusing on key components.

  • Analyze switchboard equipment according to its circuit layout.

2. Monitor and Operate Automated Electrical Power System

  • Monitor power system equipment in line with operational requirements.

  • Identify switching orders based on system components.

  • Operate electrical systems efficiently while adhering to performance standards.

  • Handle electrical system emergencies effectively.

  • Control power systems using appropriate system commands.

3. Maintain Automated Electrical Power System

  • Identify and use electrical testing instruments appropriately.

  • Apply basic maintenance procedures based on operating conditions.

  • Accurately record system events using the standard reporting template.

By the end of this module, students will have the technical expertise to analyze, operate, and maintain automated electrical power systems, equipping them with the necessary skills for industrial and power utility applications.

At the end of this module, the trainee of level 6, year 1 will be able to apply sequences, complex numbers, ordinary differential equations, Laplace and z transforms, Fourier series, descriptive statistics and probability.
