BRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION

"Basic Computer  Skills" is a course that's designed specifically for those who are completely new to computers or who feel they need to have more instruction before they can feel confident buying a new computer for their personal use.  Filled with screenshots and real-life examples, as well as resources, this source is designed to help anyone feel more comfortable with basic technology.

This course is separated into 7 different chapters, including: Introduction to Computer, Computer Navigation, Number Systems, Introduction to Computer Network, Microsoft Words, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point.

With revision questions at the end of each chapter, you will be able to review the lessons in detail, while also finding out where you have more work to do.

No matter what your level of comfort with computers, "Basic Computer Skills" is designed to help you get the basic questions answered.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By successfully completing this course, students will be able to:

1.      Classify and Explain different parts of computer

2.      Explain the evolution, categories, parts and role of computers.

3.      Understand functions of operating systems; install and use applications and utility software.

4.      Navigate the Windows environment and work with Windows Explorer to introduce techniques of folder and file management.

5.      Manipulate numbers in different numbering systems

6.      Understand the rationale of a computer network and use the internet efficiently and effectively.

7.      Use social media to exchange information on social life

8.      Create and manipulate a document using word processing basic features.

9.      Insert symbols, pictures, tables and objects in a document

10.  Manipulate text and use advanced formatting methods and simple objects in a document

11.  Generate a table of contents and use one document to have multiple copies for different recipients

12.  Work with a spreadsheet and perform basic manipulation of cell contents using arithmetical operations.

13.  Manage a window, sorting and filtering data in a spreadsheet.

14.  Work with Spreadsheet by applying Complex formula and functions

15.  Manipulate PowerPoint application software
