This module equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to perform maintenance on vehicle driveline systems, ensuring reliability, safety, and efficiency in automotive operations. It covers the principles, components, and functions of driveline systems, including the clutch, manual gearbox, transfer box, power takeoff, automatic gearbox, propeller shaft, joints, differential, and axles.
Learners will develop competencies in diagnosing common driveline faults, carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance, and applying appropriate tools and workshop procedures in line with industry standards. The module emphasizes both theoretical understanding and hands-on practice to prepare learners for real-world automotive service environments.
By the end of the module, learners will be able to:
-
Identify and explain the main components of a vehicle driveline system and their functions.
-
Inspect, service, and maintain driveline system components according to manufacturer specifications.
-
Diagnose and repair common driveline system faults.
-
Apply occupational health, safety, and environmental practices during maintenance tasks.
-
Document maintenance activities in compliance with garage and industry requirements.
