This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitude required to supervise surface
irrigation maintenance. It is intended for learners pursuing TVET diploma of irrigation and
drainage technology. At the end of this module the students will be able to develop a
surface irrigation maintenance program, carry out maintenance of surface irrigation
component, supervise routine maintenance of surface irrigation system, supervise
Emergency maintenance of surface irrigation system, supervise scheme improvement
works for maintenance of surface irrigation system and complete maintenance of surface
irrigation system. Qualified student deemed competent to this competency, may work
with others in support of current professional practice in marshland, hillside, small scale
irrigation, garden, greenhouses under guidance.
