
This course provides advanced knowledge and practical skills required for the installation, commissioning, operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of medical imaging equipment used in modern healthcare facilities. It equips students with a strong understanding of imaging principles, system components, safety standards, and quality assurance procedures essential for ensuring accurate diagnostic imaging and patient safety.
The course covers major imaging modalities including X-ray, Computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and fluoroscopy. Emphasis is placed on the interaction between imaging equipment and human anatomy and physiology, enabling students to understand image formation, clinical applications, and system performance requirements.
Students will gain hands-on experience in site planning, equipment installation, calibration, radiation protection, electrical and mechanical systems, fault diagnosis, networking basics, and compliance with international standards such as IEC, ISO, and radiation safety regulations. The course also addresses risk management, documentation, and ethical responsibilities of biomedical equipment technologists in clinical environments.
By the end of the course, graduates will be competent in maintaining medical imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance, regulatory compliance, and continuous availability of diagnostic services in hospitals and diagnostic centers.
