Hydrology is the branch of science that encompasses the study of occurrence, depletion,
replenishment, distribution and movement or circulation of water above, on and below the earth’s
surface plus its relationship with the environment.
A good understanding of the hydrologic processes is important for the assessment of the water
resources, their management and conservation on global and regional scales.
