Module Description
Module Title: Pre-advanced workplace English ( CCMEN 601)
This module is designed to strengthen learners’ English communication skills in professional and workplace contexts at a pre-advanced level. It focuses on developing fluency, accuracy, and confidence in both spoken and written English, with an emphasis on practical workplace interactions. Learners will engage in tasks that simulate authentic professional scenarios, such as meetings, presentations, negotiations, report writing, email correspondence, and collaborative teamwork.
The course integrates the four language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—while reinforcing workplace vocabulary, grammar, and discourse strategies relevant to diverse professional settings. Learners will also enhance critical soft skills such as intercultural communication, workplace etiquette, problem-solving, and professional networking.
By the end of the module, learners are expected to demonstrate the ability to:
I) Communicate effectively and appropriately in a range of workplace situations.
II) Produce coherent and well-structured professional documents.
III) Participate confidently in discussions, negotiations, and presentations.
IV) Apply strategies for clarity, persuasion, and diplomacy in communication.
V) Adapt language use to different audiences, purposes, and levels of formality.
