Soil Mechanics

This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitude required to apply soil mechanics.

It is intended for learners pursuing TVET diploma of irrigation and drainage technology.

At the end of this module the students will be able to: perform Moisture content test, perform Bulk density test, perform Sieve analysis test, perform Specific gravity test, perform hydrometer test, perform Atterberg limits test, perform swelling test, perform Standard proctor test, perform Modified proctor test, perform sand replacement test, perform permeability test, perform direct shear test.

Qualified student deemed competent to this competency, may work with others in support of current professional practice in marshland, hillside, small scale irrigation, garden, greenhouses under guidance.
