This module introduces learners to the fundamental concepts and practical principles of digital electronics. It is designed to build the skills and knowledge required to understand how digital systems represent, process, and manipulate information.
Learners will explore number systems and digital arithmetic, including binary operations and digital codes used in electronic systems. The module covers the basics of combinational and sequential logic, enabling students to analyze and design simple logic circuits using standard logic gates, flip-flops, and counters.
In addition, the module introduces digital integrated circuits (ICs), their characteristics, and their applications in modern electronic systems. Through guided explanations, worked examples, and practical exercises, learners will develop the ability to apply digital logic concepts to solve basic engineering and technical problems.
By the end of this module, learners will be able to:
-
Describe fundamental principles of digital electronics
-
Perform digital arithmetic and coding operations
-
Understand and apply combinational and sequential logic
-
Identify and use basic digital integrated circuits
