
This module provides learners with foundational knowledge and skills in research methodology relevant to academic, professional, and technical fields. It introduces the basic concepts of research, including the nature and purpose of research, types of research, and the research process. Learners are guided on how to identify research problems, formulate research objectives and questions, and review relevant literature.
The module covers qualitative and quantitative research approaches, research design, sampling techniques, data collection methods, and basic data analysis. Emphasis is also placed on research ethics, report writing, and presentation of research findings in line with academic standards.
By the end of this module, learners will be able to plan and conduct basic research activities, critically evaluate research work, and prepare simple research reports applicable to their field of study, in accordance with Rwanda Polytechnic academic and ethical guidelines.
