The module ETTSE801 – Smart Embedded Systems is a Level 8, 15-credit course under the Electronics and Telecommunication Technology program in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Its purpose is to equip students with knowledge and skills to design, implement, and integrate embedded systems for IoT applications, enabling them to solve community problems and innovate in connected technologies. The course covers three main outcomes: (1) designing IoT embedded systems, including schematic drawing, firmware development, HMI design, circuit simulation, and PCB creation; (2) implementing system hardware through component selection, PCB assembly, firmware uploading, testing, and applying IoT network/cloud platforms; and (3) integrating the complete system by combining hardware and software, deploying IoT platforms, creating dashboards, ensuring security and compliance with standards, and preparing user manuals.
