This module describes the skills, knowledge, and attitude required to determine soil
suitability for agricultural practices. It is intended for learners pursuing the TVET diploma in
irrigation and drainage technology. At the end of this module, the students will be able to
identify soil formation mechanisms, perform soil analysis, and identify soil properties.
A qualified student deemed competent in this competency may work with others in
support of current professional practice in marshland, hillside, small scale irrigation,
garden, greenhouses under guidance.
