This module provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to select, operate, adjust, calibrate, maintain, and manage farm machinery used in crop establishment operations. The module covers field assessment for ploughing, sowing, and transplanting; selection and hitching of tractors, implements, and attachments; operation of tillage, sowing, and transplanting machinery; and the application of field capacity and field efficiency concepts for evaluating machine performance. Learners will develop competencies in machinery calibration, safe operation, troubleshooting, daily maintenance, storage, and record keeping of farm activities. The module also introduces key principles of farm mechanization, internal combustion engines, tillage systems, and machinery management to improve productivity, efficiency, and sustainability in modern agricultural production systems.
