Purpose statement
This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitude about the various types of
combination of links available to achieve certain kind of motion as an output from an
input motion. This module is intended to trainees pursuing diploma in manufacturing
technology. At the end of this module, the trainees will be able to describe the well
known mechanisms, which together constitute to make a big machinery. They will
know that the machines are made of many small mechanisms. The trainees will
acquire the knowledge about gear making and its kinematics, and synthesis of
machines. The trainees will analyze velocity and acceleration of mechanism links,
which give us a great knowledge of its possible use. The trainees will have the abilities
to exercise some initiatives and independence in carrying out defined activities at
professional level.
