This module describes the skills and knowledge required to design and plan the surface
mine. This module is intended to students pursuing diploma in Mining Technology TVET
level VI. At the end of this module, the learner will be able toPrepare the mine design
work, Design the open pit, Prepare mine production plans, Plan material handling
equipment and Prepare Mining operation technical reports.
It is important that before mining works commences an elaborate plan showing the
mine layout, the open pit, the dumping site, mine utilities is designed and the operations
planned.
