Enrolment options
This module is made three main units: Ruminant nutrition, non-ruminant nutrition and animal feeding technology respectively. The total length of the module is 200 hours which make 20 credits; 5 credits for unit one; 5credits for unit two and 10 credits for unit three. The module will focus on:
1. Ruminant nutrition through identification of Nutrients and their functions, Nutrient required by ruminants, physiological process of ruminants Digestive system, and Nutrients metabolism pathways.
2. Non-Ruminant nutrition basically focusing on Nutrients and their functions, Nutrients requirements for non-ruminants, non-ruminants digestive physiology and metabolism of various nutrients.
3. Animal feeding technology basically the identification of proteins and amino acids carbohydrates, fatty acids, minerals and vitamins sources in animal feeding, Conservation of feed ingredients, determination of ingredients incorporation rates during formulation, feeds concentrates preparation and conservation and proper distribution of animal feeds and water.
The aim of this module is help the trainees to calculate, prepare and distribute animal feeds. By the end of this module, the trainees should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understand how to:
F Determine animal’s nutrients requirements and needs
F Identify animal’s feed ingredients;
F Prepare animal’s feeds ratios;
F Perform feeds concentrates preparation and conservation;
F Distribute feeds and water to animals;
