This module is designed for students pursuing technical courses for the award of a Diploma
in Construction Technology.
It describes the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to analyze structural supports and
connections; analyze beam loading; frame loading and trusses.
At the end of this module, the student will be able to analyze structural supports and
connections, calculate reactions forces, internal loads and deflection for beams, frame and
trusses under minimum supervision.
By the end of the module, the trainee will be able to:
• Differentiate carpentry and joinery
• Enumerate tools and equipment used in carpentry and joinery works
· Identify basics of carpentry materials.
· Utilize woodworking hand tools and Operate woodworking machines by making different pieces and joints in timber
