This module aims to equip students with essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes of soil analysis. The emphasis will focus on identify elementary aspects of soil formation process, forest soil and forest
ecosystem. The students will be able to explain soil biology, soil chemistry, soil fertility and conditions suitable to optimize tree survival and growth rates in forestry.

This module describes the skills and knowledge and attitude required to perform forest product development. It is a requirement for each forest manager to perform forest products conversion in the management of forest resources. At the end of this module, learners will be able to saw timber, preserve timber and manage forest leftovers from forest.

Dear Students, welcome to this module! In this course, you will learn to design, conduct, and present research, building skills from problem definition to data analysis and reporting. By the end, you will be ready to carry out independent research and apply it to real-world challenges.
- Teacher: NKAMIYABANGA Tharcisse

This module describes the skills and knowledge required to apply Economics in Forest Value chain for sustainable Forestry sector development. It focuses on applying economic principles in forestry, and valuate forest products. This will be achieved by integrating all economic principles in tree value chain from seeds, seedlings production, plantation, management, harvesting and further processing. The economic principles will help students to identify forest products mostly needed on market, and produce most profitable products with high profit than others.
- Teacher: GEDEON MANIRAKIZA

This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitude required to perform silvicultural operations. At the end of this module, learner will be able to determine forest status, elaborate forest tending operations and perform silvicultural operations.
- Teacher: GEDEON MANIRAKIZA

This module provides you with theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to identify, assess, and manage forest pests and diseases in different forestry systems. It introduces the major categories of forest pests insects, pathogens, and vertebrates and their impacts on forest health, biodiversity, and productivity.

This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitude required to produce certified tree seed, improved tree, and bamboo production. It focuses on planning tree seed production flow, establishing tree seed stand, applying for tree seed certification, perform tree species and progeny trials, selection of genetic materials, perform crossbreeding, perform genetic testing and evaluation, and bamboo production. This will be achieved through field practices in collecting tree seeds using appropriate tools, monitoring the management practices of tree seeds stands, effective tree seed handling, carrying out different tests on tree seeds to ensure viability, tests from improved greenhouses, testing of different tree species, tissues culture for different species, and
carrying out tree improvement for different tree species, bamboo production with both sexual and asexual propagation.

This module equips you with the skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to manage forest pests and diseases. It focuses on identifying pests and diseases, diagnosing problems, treating affected trees, and preventing their spread. You will practice these skills through field assessments, sample collection, laboratory tests, and applying control and prevention measures.
