This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitude required to monitor and
evaluate irrigation and drainage system. It is intended for learners pursuing TVET diploma
of irrigation and drainage technology. At the end of this module the students will be able
to assess irrigation and drainage systems, regulate flow, monitor irrigation and drainage
systems, record and report system performance status. Qualified student deemed
competent to this competency, may work with others in support of current professional
practice in marshland, hillside, small scale irrigation, garden, greenhouses under
guidance.

program for drainage system, organize resources, complete maintenance of drainage
system and complete records and report of drainage system maintenance. Qualified

The purpose of this module is to give students a wider understanding of principles of water, the importance of hydrology, groundwater, open channel flow, stream flow measurements and Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). It provides a clear understanding of water resources and processes related to the movement of water above, on and below earth surface. It provides a basic knowledge of atmospheric and surface processes (precipitation, evapotranspiration, infiltration, surface run-off).
