This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitude required to apply Microbiology in Horticulture.  This module is intended for learners pursuing TVET Advanced diploma in horticulture. At the end of this module, learners will be able to identify microorganisms, describe the microbial physiology, and manage microorganisms. 

This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitude required to produce vegetables.  This module is intended to students pursuing TVET Advanced Diploma in Horticulture. At the end of this module, learners will be able to make a vegetable production plan, carry out vegetable establishment activities, prepare the site for vegetables growing, monitor vegetable crop post planting operations and carry out harvesting and post harvesting of vegetable produce.  Qualified learners deemed competent to this competency may work alone or with others on routine tasks in various places dealing with vegetable production such as private farmers, agricultural research institutions, farmers’ cooperatives.

The module will be assessed as a practical module.

This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitude required to perform basic  irrigation and drainage activities. It is intended for learners pursuing TVET diploma (REQF Level VI) in horticulture. At the end of this module, learners will be able to prepare for irrigation and drainage practices, participate in installation and 
maintenance of irrigation/drainage systems infrastructures. Qualified learners deemed competent to this competency may work alone or with others on routine tasks in crop production farm under minimum supervision. 

This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitude required to apply soil science principles. It is intended for learners pursuing TVET Diploma in Horticulture. At the end of this module, learners will be able determine soil characteristics, describe soil fertility and fertilizers, perform soil conservation and perform laboratory analysis of soil. Qualified learners deemed competent to this competency may work alone or with others on routine tasks in various places such as horticulture farm, crop production farm, agriculture research centres, greenhouse under minimum supervision. 

This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitude required to produce fruits. This module is intended to students pursuing TVET Diploma in Horticulture. At the end of this module, learners will be able to make a fruit production plan, carry out fruits establishment activities, carry out fruits crop post planting operations and carry out harvesting and post harvesting of fruits produce.  Qualified learners deemed competent to this competency may work alone or with others on routine tasks in various places dealing with fruits production such as private farmers, agricultural research institutions, farmers’ cooperatives.

The module is 12 credits. Practical Module: CA= 50% ie  Formatives=10%, CA Practical Exam=30%, CA Theory Exam=10%, SA=50% ie SA Practical Exam=30% and SA Theory Exam 20%. Total 100%

This module describes the skills, knowledge and attitude required to apply ecology 
principles. It is intended for learners who are pursuing TVET Diploma (REQF, level VI) in 
Horticulture related qualifications. At the end of this module, learners will be able to 
describe ecosystem components, assess the effects of ecological factors on plants and 
conserve the ecosystem.

Theoratical module: CA=50% (Formatives=20%, CA Theory Exam=30%) and SA=50% (SA Theory Exam). Total=100%
