This Course aims at delivering all needful skills and knowledge to apply related works on soil
mechanics highway related projects, where trainees will eventually have the following
competencies:

  1. Introduced to soil mechanics principles,
  2. Apply Physical and mechanical properties of soils
  3. Apply ground water movement in soils.

This is a core module which introduces learners to the fundamental principles and practices of road pavement design. The module describes the performance outcomes, skills, knowledge, and attitudes required to perform basic pavement design tasks in line with engineering standards and sustainable road construction practices.

Learners will acquire:

  • Knowledge of pavement structure, material properties, traffic loading, subgrade behavior, and environmental influences on pavement performance.

  • Skills to analyze soil data, select suitable pavement types, determine pavement layer thicknesses, and apply standard design methods like empirical and mechanistic-empirical approaches.

  • Attitudes that emphasize accuracy, professional ethics, safety consciousness, cost-effectiveness, and environmental responsibility in pavement design.

Purpose statement
This module describes the knowledge, skills, and attitude required to perform basic road geometric design.
At the end of this module, you will be able to analyze the topographic data of an area, process it in accordance with a road geometric design standard to create alignment, produce cross-section details, and provide adequate sight distances for proper traffic mobility and safety.

This module is designedfor students pursuing a diploma in Construction Technology. It describes
the skills, knowledge, and attitudes required to apply technical drawing. At the end of this course,
the learner will be able to use construction drawing instruments, materials and equipment; apply
lines and symbols used in drawing and perform 2 & 3 dimensional drawing.

By The end of this Module, student will be able to

-Manage Construction Site human resources

-Manage Construction Site Materials

-Manage Construction Site tools and Equipment

Purpose statement

This module aims at equipping the learner with skills, knowledge and attitudes required to apply advanced computer skills that facilitate effective learning at the workplace. After completion of this module, learner will be able to apply computer fundamentals concepts, design a professional word document, prepare a professional presentation, use spreadsheets, and use the internet and search engines as well as using web-based applications software.

Upon completion of this module, trainees will be able to:

  • Apply Computer Fundamentals: Understand and manage computer systems, including file and folder management and system protection.
  • Apply Advanced Word Processing: Create, format, and enhance professional documents using features like mail merge, references, and automation.
  • Apply Advanced Spreadsheet Skills: Effectively use formulas, functions, and formatting to manage and present spreadsheet data.
  • Apply Advanced PowerPoint Presentation Skills: Design and create professional presentations with proper formatting, transitions, animations, and slide master management.
  • Use the Internet: Understand network basics and effectively use web browsers, search engines, and web-based applications.
