This course, Facilitating the Safety of Aerodrome Works and Work Site Access, is a comprehensive training program designed for aerodrome operations staff, safety officers, and trainers. It provides the essential skills and knowledge required to safely prepare for, facilitate, and complete aerodrome works, all while maintaining the highest standards of aircraft safety and operational integrity
📖 Introduction
This module provides the critical competencies needed to manage the entire lifecycle of aerodrome works, from initial preparation to final completion and site restoration. The course's primary focus is on managing the activities of personnel, vehicles, and plant equipment on movement areas to ensure aircraft safety.
Participants will develop expertise in risk assessment, hazard identification, traffic management, and compliance with the regulatory frameworks that govern aerodrome operations. A core component of this course is learning to develop, adapt, and execute works in strict accordance with key documents, including Method of Working Plans (MOWPs) and Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs).
The course is structured into four essential units of competency:
Unit 1: Prepare for Aerodrome Works Covers confirming official notifications, establishing communication protocols, developing safe work processes, identifying adverse factors, and conducting comprehensive hazard identification and risk assessments .
Unit 2: Facilitate Aerodrome Access Focuses on determining authorization requirements, conducting compliance inspections of personnel and vehicles, managing airside activities, and ensuring proper vehicle markings .
Unit 3: Facilitate Aerodrome Works Details the process of positioning unserviceability markers, facilitating works according to MOWPs, managing movement area activities, and issuing updated notifications as work progresses.
Unit 4: Complete Aerodrome Works Outlines the procedures for safely clearing works areas, conducting comprehensive serviceability inspections, notifying authorities (like ATC) of restoration, and completing all required reports and documentation.
