Course image Vehicle Dynamic
Mechnical Engineering

Vehicle dynamics refers to the study of tires modeling, ride, mathematical modeling of
suspensions, and handling of a vehicle. Deflections of the machine members are neglected in general by treating machine members as rigid bodies (also called rigid body dynamics). In other words the link must be properly designed to withstand the forces without undue deformation to facilitate proper functioning of the system.

Simply put, vehicle dynamics studies the characteristic behavior of a vehicle in specific response
to a change in its external environment. This change could be in multiple forms, including a
wheel deflection due to a road input, longitudinal or lateral acceleration, or a roll due to steering
input.
