This Module aims at providing the
student with knowledge and understanding of the construction and operating
principles of all vehicle electrical systems.
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
Classify starter battery into various categories.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding on the Construction, characteristics and operating principle of starter battery.
Explain the basic operating principle of alternator and its circuits (pre-excitation, excitation and charging)
Repair or replace faulty parts of the alternator using proper assembly procedures.
State the operating principle of different types of voltage regulators
Classify all DC motors and describe their operating principle
Disassemble DC motors, carryout parts inspection and measurement and identify faulty parts.
Identify components of various ignition systems and state their operating principle
Carryout ignition systems inspection and measurements and identify faulty parts
Identify various vehicle lightings and their operating principle
Carryout vehicle lighting system inspection, measurements, maintenance and identify faulty parts
